Route 66 – HarrisPhoto

The Road Travelled

As much a destination as an American icon.

So I decided to see what it was all about. Being that 66 was such a vital part of the construction of what is now a massive hi-way system, I though it a perfect way to pay homage to American growth.

I loaded the overland ready Excursion with all the gear I thought necessary for a cross country, back road adventure, mapped out the actual route, and did my research as to where there is no longer hard surfaced road for 66. It’s all accessible with a capable rig.

Cameras at the ready.

But I decided to photograph this particular stretch of history with original Polaroid 600 instant cameras. So I packed 2 of them, and 10 packs of black and white instant film. I thought, if I’m gonna drive Route 66, I may as well go analogue, and even further that, by shooting it on Polaroid. It seemed fitting for the journey, sort of what you see is what you get.

Immediately.
